Ø The horse’s back plays a primary role in locomotion, the function of the musculoskeletal system and the ability to carry a rider. To achieve optimum athletic performance the horse’s back function must be unimpeded.
Ø Back pain is a common problem frequently reported in horses and is one of the 10 most common causes of lameness. Any pain or discomfort will affect the movement of the back and limbs. Signs may be subtle or cause major alteration of gait, performance and behaviour.
Ø Horses in training, like human athletes, benefit from physical therapy in order to maintain skeletal, muscular and nervous system health. All animals will benefit from McTimoney manipulation as it helps to achieve and maintain optimum health and performance.
